Xylem solutions for the entire water cycle to be displayed at WEFTEC

Company to launch world’s first pumping system with integrated intelligence in the U.S.

Xylem, (NYSE: XYL), a leading global water technology company dedicated to solving the world’s most challenging water issues, will highlight its comprehensive solutions to address ‘urban resilience’ at the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) at the Morial Convention Centre in New Orleans from September 24-28. Xylem will showcase a range of proven, smart water technologies and highlight the company’s deep application expertise, which together can help communities tackle critical water challenges and support sustainable, resilient water management.

At WEFTEC, Xylem will launch the world’s first wastewater pumping system featuring integrated intelligence, in the U.S. Flygt Concertor significantly advances the sustainability of the wastewater pumping sector by delivering unparalleled pumping efficiency (proven to reduce energy consumption by up to 70 percent) and reliability, as well as a lower overall cost of ownership. The new solution was developed in close collaboration with Xylem’s customers around the world and launched earlier this year in Europe. The Flygt Concertor launch event will take place at Xylem’s booth 2529 on Monday September 26, at 10:00 a.m.

Xylem will also host a meeting of the Smart Water Networks Forum (SWAN) to progress the opening of a new chapter in North America, at the company’s booth (2529) on Tuesday, September 27, 4:00 – 6:00pm. A non-profit organization, SWAN is the leading hub for the smart water sector, accelerating the awareness and adoption of data-driven technologies in water and wastewater networks worldwide. All are invited to the Xylem booth during WEFTEC to learn more.

Xylem will hold contingency planning workshops at its booth to help customers develop resilient water and wastewater services. During these one-to-one sessions, a Xylem rental expert will help customers to begin to develop personalized contingency plans to ensure they are emergency-ready and well-prepared for the unexpected. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that at least 40,000 Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) occur every year in the U.S., discharging nearly 900 billion gallons (3.4 trillion liters) of sewage into lakes, rivers, streams and other water sources, accounting for thousands of cases of gastrointestinal illness. A contingency plan ensures a municipality has everything needed to start mitigating an SSO within a few hours.

The Xylem booth # 2529 will feature solutions from the Company’s analytics, treatment and dewatering portfolio of solutions:

Xylem analytics technology including laboratory and field sampling systems for water and wastewater regulatory compliance and process optimization such as the YSI IQ SensorNet, will be on display. Xylem will launch a new YSI portable sampler, capable of automating sampling at plant influent and effluent points, while a new YSI Dissolved Oxygen (DO) handheld Pro20i designed for ‘in the field’ testing will also be unveiled. Rob Smith, Ph.D., Applications Engineer, Xylem will take part in the ‘Mobile Session Topic’ with a presentation about nutrient analyzers and sensors ‘Ion Selective Electrodes and Photometers for Nutrient Monitoring’, on Tuesday September 27, 9:00 -10:30am at the Xylem booth.

Xylem treatment technology on display will include the Wedeco Duron ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system, which is the first UV disinfection system with an inclined lamp array to be available in California for water reuse. Xylem’s Leopold Ultrascreen disk filter will also be showcased at the event. The Ultrascreen filter has over 40 successful installations in North America and almost 300 worldwide achieving California Title 22 approved loading rates up to 16 gallons per minute, per square foot (16 gpm/ft2) / 40 meters per hour (40 m/hr), the highest in the industry.

Xylem’s dewatering portfolio including the Godwin Dri-Prime Backup System (DBS) will be featured. The system is the ideal ‘contingency plan’ providing independently powered backup pumping that can be used for a variety of emergency situations. Municipalities located in areas prone to heavy rain or snowmelt, or extreme weather events such as hurricanes, will find the Godwin DBS system to be a critical solution in helping to manage these circumstances. The company will also display its extensive rental offer and wide range of Flygt and Godwin brand dewatering pumps.

In addition, live remote pump operation demonstrations will be held using Godwin Field Smart Technology. Godwin Primeguard Controller with Field Smart Technology enables a pump to be stopped, started and monitored remotely via live satellite link to ensure optimum efficiency. Xylem will showcase the technology remotely monitoring a pump based in Bridgeport, New Jersey. Demonstrations will take place each day of the show, through the day and on request at Xylem’s booth.

Also at the meeting, on September 27, the WateReuse Association will announce the winners of the New Water Brew Contest, a competition for home brewers to turn recycled water into beer. The aim of this initiative is to demonstrate the value of wastewater and how it can be purified and safely used for multiple purposes. Xylem, TetraTech and GE partnered with WateReuse to produce the purified water using a multi-step treatment process including stringent filtration and disinfection methods.
