Wilo group industry conference 2023 catalyses collaboration for smart water solutions and sustainable supercities across Asia

Wilo group, a multinational technology company and global provider of pumps and pump systems, hosted its annual industry conference in Singapore for the first time on 21 Sep 2023 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Singapore. During the event, the Wilo Group also announced a partnership with the Nusantara Capital Authority, a cabinet level-agency formed by Indonesian government working directly under the President of Indonesia in which details will be announced at a later date.

The conference merged expertise in smart water solutions with Singapore’s role as an urban living laboratory to catalyse collaborations for sustainable smart cities in Asia, supported by the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV). In conjunction with the conference, Enterprise Singapore organised a B2B matching session under its Germany Singapore Business Forum (GSBF) connect initiative.

H.E. Dr Norbert Riedel, German ambassador to Singapore; H.E. Ina Lepel, German ambassador of Indonesia, ASEAN and Timor-Leste; and Wilo group president and CEO Oliver Hermes were keynote addresses of this conference.

President and CEO Hermes said, “Energy transition, water security and healthcare access are placed under pressure by rapidly urbanising populations. The private and public sector must work together to build smart, connected and sustainable cities for the future.”

Themed ‘Smart urban areas – connecting minds for a multilateral world’, global thought leaders like Manish Pant, executive vice-president of international operations, Schneider Electric; Dr Ayesha Khanna, co-founder and CEO of ADDO AI; and Farizan D’Avezac de Moran, board member of Singapore Green Building Council discussed ways the public and private spheres play in sustainable urban development and how technology can be leveraged for today’s urban areas and upcoming supercities.
