German biogas specialist, WELTEC BIOPOWER, is in the midst of building three anaerobic digestion plants in Northern Ireland. All three 500kW plants will be completed soon, and will go live in summer 2018. Two of them are in County Antrim in the north-east, and the third is located in Benburb, County Tyrone. With this, WELTEC will soon account for nine of an estimated 40 biogas plants in Northern Ireland.
Although the three new plants look and are charged similarly with slurry and manure as well as a small amount of renewable raw materials, WELTEC engineers have developed an individual concept for each plant, as the substrate composition and retention times vary.
