Water Planet Invited to Present IntelliFlux Artificial Intelligence-Based Control System at BlueTech Forum Innovation Showcase

Water Planet, a global supplier of high-performance membrane-based water treatment solutions, has been selected to participate in the BlueTech Innovation Showcase at this year’s BlueTech Forum, which takes place in San Francisco on June 1, 2016.

The company will present its IntelliFlux™ fully automated, self-adaptive flux enhancement and recovery control technology developed to optimize the performance of filtration systems in the most challenging applications. IntelliFlux is an integral component of Water Planet’s IMS-5000 systems installed around the world and is currently being used in a pilot project in Wasco, California to evaluate the performance and economics of treating produced water for agricultural reuse.

IntelliFlux can be used to control MF, UF, NF and RO membranes as well as virtually any other filtration media that requires periodic backwashing, cleaning or regeneration. Using artificial intelligence-based software, IntelliFlux learns how a filter media responds to the influent water quality to determine custom-optimized flux maintenance actions (e.g., backwashing, cleaning, regeneration, etc.). As influent quality and/or filter media change over time, IntelliFlux automatically adapts and adjusts flux maintenance actions to maintain optimal operating conditions – maximizing water recovery while minimizing energy demand, chemical consumption and cost.

“IntelliFlux helps reduce costs and conserve water by automatically optimizing filter operating conditions in real-time. This revolutionary control technology runs a filtration system using artificial intelligence, adjusting backwashing and cleaning in response to filtration performance. Our artificial intelligence-based controls technology becomes smarter over time, factoring in variables like the time of day or seasonal fluctuations,” said Eric Hoek, Water Planet’s founder and Chief Executive Officer.

According to Paul O’Callaghan, CEO of BlueTech Research, “Water Planet has a technology that offers lower cost, lower energy consumption and better performance that its competitors, with more water being produced per dollar invested. I am delighted to welcome the company to the BlueTech Forum, where they will have the opportunity to share their technological expertise more widely.”

Water Planet has won numerous accolades for its disruptive technology innovations. These honors include the prestigious Technology Idol competition at the 2016 Global Water Awards for IntelliFlux, an award presented to the company whose technology “could change the future of the water market.” Water Planet was also selected for Global Cleantech’s 2015 list of 100 Ones to Watch, the West Coast Water Management Company of the Year in the 2014 Oil & Gas Awards, and Distinction for Technology of the Year by the Global Water Awards in 2013 for PolyCera® membrane technology.
