The Water Environment Federation is pleased to announce Dr. Zhen (Jason) He as the new editor-in-chief of Water Environment Research (WER).
Dr. He is a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and directs the university’s Environmental Biotechnology and Bioenergy Laboratory. Dr. He has published more than 180 journal papers and has received three granted US patents.
As editor-in-chief of WER, Dr. He will oversee the peer review process to ensure that high-quality research is published in the journal and solicit papers from preeminent researchers. Dr. He will also oversee WER’s associate editors. Dr. He’s appointment comes weeks after WEF selected John Wiley and Sons Inc. as its publishing partner for WER.
“I am honored to be the new editor-in-chief of Water Environment Research and also excited to lead one of the oldest water journals to the next stage,” Dr. He said. “Our new editorial team aims to ensure high quality in WER’s content and fast processing of submissions. The partnership between WEF and Wiley will greatly benefit the transition of WER to be a leading journal in water and wastewater research.”
“Dr. He’s accomplishments at Virginia Tech and reputation as a researcher in our sector position him perfectly to lead Water Environment Research,” said Eileen O’Neill, WEF Executive Director. “We are excited to have Dr. He and a diverse team of associate editors at the helm of our flagship journal in this changing and dynamic landscape of scholarly water research.”
In addition to Dr. He’s appointment as editor-in-chief, the following researchers have been appointed as WER associate editors:
· Nicole Fahrenfeld, Rutgers University
· Xiaohong Guan, Tongji University
· Veera Gnaneswar Gude, Mississippi State University
