Water technology company Aquaporin has developed the Next Generation Aquaporin Inside technology, designed to improve energy efficiencies of its membrane products.
Aquaporin CTO Torsten Bak said, “We are seeing some promising preliminary lab data which we look forward to exploring and building upon.”
From 5-10 Nov 2024, Aquaporin will participate in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) conference, showcasing the potential of advanced filtration using Aquaporin Inside formulation, which includes protein molecules. The company has filed a patent application to secure this technology, which is at the foundation of its future membrane manufacturing.
Natural aquaporin proteins are reportedly efficient, and evolution has refined them as the best water transport channels. With its focus on low-energy, biomimetic membranes, Aquaporin aims to advance efficient water use, extensive reuse, and responsible power consumption. The new laboratory results bode well for an even more efficient future, according to its reports.
The laboratory results mark a first milestone in the process of developing a second generation of Aquaporin Inside. Other important milestones include pilot testing and a scaleup to a production environment.
