TaKaDu moves into the United States for the first time

Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) in Tennessee, the United States (US), has chosen TaKaDu, a global leader in Integrated Event Management solutions in the water industry, to improve their water efficiency and bring down water loss. Following a public tender, KUB and TaKaDu, based in Israel, have signed a contract. This latest move by KUB is part of its coordinated effort to upgrade and enhance their customer service and reduce their non-revenue water (NRW). Matchpoint, one of TaKaDu’s distributors in North America, is managing the project.

KUB supplies Knoxville as well as certain areas in seven surrounding counties in the East Tennessee Valley with gas, electric, water, and wastewater services. Known for heavily investing in infrastructure upgrades – like their creation of the District Metered Areas (DMAs) to segregate the networks and add meters and sensors to monitor flow and pressure, along with replacing various other assets – the next natural step for them is to figure out how to convert the data from the water system into operational knowledge and information. For this, TaKaDu was selected to manage the extensive volumes of sensor data that offer almost real-time analysis and alerts for a broad range of network incidents.

The computerised cloud-based service TaKaDu offers allows utilities to identify, analyse, and manage network occurrences like bursts, data issues, faulty assets, leaks, and operational failures, among many more. By converting the raw data into knowledge and information, TaKaDu presents greater visibility and actionable insights that translates, in turn, into faster resolutions for issues.

Barry Hales, the President of Matchpoint, said, “Matchpoint is honoured to bring KUB and TaKaDu together. We challenge ourselves to accurately define and fully comprehend the needs of our clients. The KUB/TaKaDu solution will translate information into knowledge, thus providing a mutually beneficial relationship for years to come.”

“We’re delighted to announce this important opportunity with KUB, representing the first US utility to join TaKaDu’s worldwide customer base across eleven countries,” Amir Peleg, TaKaDu’s Founder and CEO added. “KUB’s progressive approach to data evolution and eagerness to improve its efficiency fits perfectly with the culture change TaKaDu is enabling.”
