Swan Analytical Instruments has launched the AMI-II Fluotrace Oil, a high-sensitivity oil-in-water monitor designed for continuous, real-time detection of hydrocarbons across industrial, marine, environmental and water treatment applications.
The analyser combines advanced fluorescence technology with a robust, user-friendly design to detect trace levels of oil and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), helping operators identify contamination before it affects critical processes, equipment or the environment. It offers detection limits as low as 0.15ppm for oil and 5ppb for PAHs, providing early warning and supporting process protection.
“With the AMI-II Fluotrace Oil, Swan is delivering a solution that meets the growing need for dependable, low-maintenance hydrocarbon monitoring,” said a spokesperson for Swan Analytical Instruments. “Whether protecting boiler systems, safeguarding drinking water sources or supporting compliance in marine applications, users benefit from fast, accurate and continuous measurement.”
Fast detection for critical applications
The AMI-II Fluotrace Oil delivers a rapid T90 response time of approximately six seconds, making it suitable for early leak detection and protecting downstream equipment and processes from contamination events. The system measures oil concentrations from 0.000 to 150ppm, depending on the oil type, and PAH concentrations of up to 5,000ppb.
Designed for reliability and low maintenance
Built for long-term operation in demanding environments, the analyser features nano-coated optical windows that help reduce contamination and fouling, supporting long-term measurement stability. As no reagents are required, the system can help reduce operating costs and simplify maintenance. The AMI-II Fluotrace Oil is supplied fully tested and calibrated, and is ready for immediate operation.
For further maintenance reduction, the monitor can be equipped with Swan’s Cleaning Module-III P, which helps minimise the build-up of biofilm, limescale and dirt. An optional verification kit also enables users to validate measurement performance, supporting quality assurance and compliance programmes.
Flexible installation options
The Fluotrace sensor supports multiple installation configurations, including at-line, immersion and in-line applications. With an IP68 rating, the sensor is designed to withstand demanding operating environments and provide reliable performance in challenging field conditions.
Broad industry applications
The AMI-II Fluotrace Oil has been developed for a range of applications, including:
• Power and industrial facilities: Monitoring cooling water, condensate return, process water and wastewater discharge streams.
• Marine applications: Monitoring oil in ballast and bilge water systems to support compliance with maritime regulations.
• Desalination and drinking water operations: Providing early detection of contamination in raw water intakes and supporting the monitoring of critical infrastructure.
• Environmental protection: Monitoring stormwater runoff and discharge water to help prevent environmental damage and regulatory violations.
The AMI-II Fluotrace Oil is available with a range of installation accessories and sensor cable lengths of 1m, 5m and 15m, allowing users to configure the system according to their specific application requirements.
