SUEX NWS’ subsidiary Taizhou Sino French Sewage Treatment Co., Ltd, a joint venture newly established by SUEZ NWS and Taizhou Jiulong Wastewater Treatment Plant, recently signed an asset transfer agreement with Taizhou New Energy Industrial Park’s Administration Committee to provide quality wastewater treatment services for the entire park in the next 30 years under concession.
According to the investment cooperation agreement signed, the wastewater treatment project will be invested in and operated by Taizhou Sino French, with a total investment of 167.5 million RMB (US$26.17 million) and SUEZ NWS accounting for 90 per cent of its shares.
Although the first phase will only have a capacity of 10,000m³ daily, the total capacity of the project will be up to 40,000m³ per day, and will strictly comply with the first-grade A-level discharge standard. The joint venture will also take responsibility for the investment, construction, as well as operation of the second phase and future projects of the wastewater treatment plant as according to the development needs of the park.
“The park adheres to the concept of building a liveable, low-carbon, environmental and cultural park. It has employed high requirements regarding the construction and operation of environmental projects from the beginning of its design, so as to achieve harmony and co-prosperity between the industrial and ecological environments, which is also our original intention to engage ourselves in development of the new energy industry,” Zhang Aihua, the Secretary of the Working Committee of Taizhou New Energy Industrial Park, said. “To this end, we chose to cooperate with SUEZ NWS as they have many achievements and a good reputation in the field of environmental management for industrial parks. We feel so assured that they will manage the wastewater treatment well for the park.”
“It is a great honour to provide wastewater treatment services for Taizhou New Energy Industrial Park, and we are very thankful for the support and trust from the park,” Steve Clark, CEO of SUEZ Asia, added. “SUEX NWS has been providing professional environmental services to 11 large industrial parks in China, thereby accumulating rich experiences in management and operation. We are confident to protect the beautiful environment of the park and help it build into a benchmark in the new energy industry of China.”
