The acquisition by Smith & Loveless (S&L) Australia of CST Wastewater Solutions brings together the service and capabilities of two wastewater technology companies that have worked in partnership on projects throughout Australasia for the last 20 years.
They are now forming a stronger united entity serving Australia and New Zealand according to S&L Australia, which operates in 70 countries — where it provides water and wastewater solids separation technologies, including screening, grit removal, and clarifier systems.
S&L Australia added that the acquisition, announced this month further solidifies S&L’s leadership position in wastewater inlet works and particle separation technologies, allowing the company to deliver to its industry partners and customers value leveraged through equipment packages.
CST Wastewater brings expertise extending from designing a range of specialised wastewater screening technologies — including fine screens for membrane bioreactor (MBR) applications — through to compacting, conveying, washing, and dewatering equipment for both municipal and industrial markets.
“CST Wastewater is also a provider of a range of wastewater service arrangements, which will be retained and extended under the new ownership”, said its managing director Michael Bambridge.
praised the synergies between the two companies, emphasising CST Wastewater’s brand reputation and market leadership in municipal and industrial fine screens throughout Australia and beyond, fitting with S&L’s global leadership in grit removal solutions.
S&L president Frank J. Rebori said, “Combining the established brands of S&L PISTA grit removal systems with CST wastewater screens under one roof creates a headworks technology dynamo in the water industry in terms of total solutions and unmatched performance.
“CST Wastewater’s emphases on cost-effective and energy-efficient equipment solutions that facilitate recycling, lowering carbon footprints, and improving water quality matches with S&L’s family of companies whose mantra is ‘Protecting water. Protecting people’.”
“This acquisition marks the next exciting chapter in the 30-plus year history of CST Wastewater Solutions,” Bambridge added. “CST Wastewater is a provider of innovative wastewater treatment solutions throughout Australia and beyond, and now as part of S&L, I expect its reach will grow exponentially, greatly benefitting treatment works and other clean water processes.”
