This year, the biannual Siemens Process Automation Conference & Exhibition (SPACe) Innovation Tour 2017, will visit five countries in Southeast Asia. The show, focusing on automation and technology, among others, began in Vietnam on the 23rd of June, and will continue on countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia in August and September. More than 500 visitors from all over the region are expected to attend the SPACe ASEAN Innovation Tour 2017.
Themed “Driving the Digital Enterprise in Process Industries of Southeast Asia”, conference sessions are made of customised topics based on specific country and industry requirements, including process automation and safety, industrial communication, and emerging industry trends much like digitalisation, among others. Additionally, this would also allow Siemens users to engage with experts and other users in the region.
SPACe is an enriching platform that brings users, partners and Siemens experts from different parts of the world together to facilitate sharing of ideas and opinions. Activities include presentation and technology sessions, exhibitions, as well as industry workshops and networking sessions that attendees can choose to participate in according to their area of specialisation and interests.
Through these activities, the user community as well as potential users can share and exchange knowledge with industry peers, discover more about Siemens and its various technologies, and network with fellow users as well as Siemens technical experts, thus enabling them to learn from each other while also gaining first-hand knowledge about new technologies and their applications.
“Based on the feedback and support from the user community, we have evolved SPACe to cover more markets this year in order to reach out to and engage with the wider user community,” Dr. Friedhelm Geiger, Head of Siemens PD PA ASEAN Solution Business, Siemens Thailand and SPACe Siemens Advisory Board Chairman, ASEAN, said. “Since the inception of SPACe in 2010, we have had very successful sessions with participants, and we look forward to continuing this outreach by showcasing our expertise in the Process Industries space, and at the same time discussing opportunities available in each of the Southeast Asia markets.”
“Through the conference, we aim to strengthen our relationship with Siemens users in Vietnam and the overall region,” Mr. Tindaro Danze, Vice President and Country Division Lead of Siemens Vietnam, added. “We are very keen to hear from them the challenges they face, as well as understand more about the industry requirements to better provide them with relevant technology solutions. We look forward in engaging with them through the various activities organized on-site.”
At SPACe, Siemens’ latest range of innovative technologies will be on display, including the XHQ Operations Intelligence software, whose updated version can be used on mobile devices, allowing data relevant to plant operation to be accessed anytime and anywhere. For the very first time, the XHQ Workbench software allows users to organise relevant visualisations for their own use on both mobile and desktop devices, and the new interface also enables users to easily access their operations and business data for further analyses through Business Intelligence Tools.
This year, Siemens is also launching the SIMATIC PCS 7 Process Control System, Version 9, at SPACe. The PCS 7 allows manufacturers to respond quickly to changes in market requirements and ensures continuous and uninterrupted systems operation. Version 9 also supports the world leading Industrial Ethernet standard Profinet with two new distributed I/O lines for greater digitalisation, as well as extensive new software functionality. With this new version, Siemens will be able to offer new perspectives to plant operators, also allowing them to benefit from its greater flexibility, convenience, and wide-ranging compatibility.
