Sensmet appoints Jyri Hämäläinen as chief product officer

Finnish technology company Sensmet has appointed Jyri Hämäläinen as chief product officer, where he will lead the development of the company’s continuous metals monitoring instruments.

Hämäläinen brings more than 25 years of cross-functional executive leadership experience spanning technology, product development, global sales and marketing. Most recently, as co-founder and director at Emberion, he defined product strategies and led global sales and marketing, taking the photonics deep-tech start-up from early incubation through to exit.

His career also includes key director roles at Nokia Technologies, where he drove sales development and commercial partnerships, as well as operational experience in heavy industry and strategic consulting at Boston Consulting Group.

“I am very pleased to be joining Sensmet at this pivotal stage in the company’s growth,” said Hämäläinen. “Sensmet’s core technology is extremely impressive and has been proven across a wide variety of applications. By enabling the continuous measurement of metal concentrations, Sensmet has addressed a major challenge for many rapidly growing industries. I am excited to take on a role that will help leverage this technology and make it applicable to a much wider range of customers and applications.”

Sensmet’s chief executive officer, Dr Toni Laurila, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jyri to the Sensmet team. He is a highly accomplished individual with impressive credentials, and I am sure that he will play an important role in accelerating Sensmet’s growth.”
