Rockwell Automation appoints new country manager for Singapore

On 10 Jan 2023, American industrial automation provider Rockwell Automation appointed Mariya Prempeh as the country manager for Singapore’s headquarters.

Prempeh will be responsible for the company’s business operations and direct sales here in this island-nation
She reports to Marcelo Tarkieltaub, Rockwell Automation’s regional director for South East Asia

With more than 10 years of experience in sales and marketing, Prempeh has worked with enterprises across the globe in a variety of technology sectors. Prior to joining Rockwell Automation, she served as Singapore’s general manager for surveying company Leica Geosystems, part of Swedish IT company Hexagon.

At Leica Geosystems, she led a team in helping the company achieve financial growth during COVID-19. Prempeh was also formerly with Hilti Corporation, a multinational company that develops, manufactures, and markets products for the construction, building maintenance, energy and manufacturing industries.

“I am thrilled to join Rockwell Automation as country manager for Singapore, extending the company’s strong footprint in the country, particularly in key manufacturing sectors such as life sciences, semiconductor, and oil and gas,” said Prempeh.

“Singapore’s adoption of automation and advanced technology continues to lead the region. According to a Deloitte report, Singapore is the second most prepared country for automation, ranking behind Australia and ahead of Japan,” added Marcel Tarkieltaub, the regional director for South East Asia in Rockwell Automation, whom Prempeh will report to.

“We are excited to have Mariya on board as we cater to the region’s rising demand for advanced manufacturing solutions.”

Manufacturing contributes to S$106bn of Singapore’s GDP. The sector also employs about 450,000 workers, around 12% of the national workforce. In 2021, the Singapore government announced plans to grow the sector to 50% by 2030. To achieve this, the country will need to develop its competitiveness through innovation, producing higher-value products and increasing its capabilities in advanced manufacturing. Investment in automation and smart manufacturing solutions is key for Singapore to achieve its target.

Since 1991, Rockwell Automation located its Asia-Pacific and South East Asia headquarters in Singapore, setting up a large-scale manufacturing facility and a customer experience centre. It serves the wastewater industry by providing water treatment solutions.

Today it is supported by a partner network of close to 200 distributors and system integrator partners across South East Asia, offering a range of products and solutions, including the connected enterprise solution, manufacturing execution systems, human-machine interface (HMI), and smart devices such as In-Cabinet Modular I/O and independent cart technology.
