Ranhill Water Services Sdn. Bhd. (RWS), a subsidiary of Ranhill Holdings Berhad, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Canadian technology company, Echologics LLC.
“We are exploring to adopt new technology that will make Ranhill more efficient in detecting water leak,” said Ahmad Zahdi Jamil, CEO of Water Division, Ranhill Holdings Berhad.
The MoU allows Ranhill to tap into the technologies developed by Echologics, a specialist in the development of acoustic technologies that can non-invasively detect the underground leaks.
“This technology will help us to reduce costs and prioritise capital spending without breaking grounds or disruption of water supply services to end consumers,” said Ahmad Zahdi. “This is also aligned with the Government’s plan of reducing nonrevenue water (NRW) to 25% by 2020,” he concluded.
RWS was formed in 2005 to focus on the reduction and management of water leak or NRW. Today, RWS has managed to save more than 430 MLD, enough to supply to more than 450,000 households every day.
The Minister of Kementerian Tenaga, Teknologi Hijau dan Air Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus J. Ongkili was present to witness the signing of the MoU.
