Ovarro’s TBox supports market-ready hydrogen energy innovation

Ovarro’s TBox remote telemetry technology has been integrated into ATOM H2’s innovative hydrogen energy storage system, enabling secure remote monitoring and control as the renewable power solution moves towards commercial deployment

Ovarro’s TBox remote telemetry unit (RTU) has been integrated into the control architecture of an innovative renewable energy storage system.

Developed by Catalan start-up ATOM H2, the containerised system converts surplus solar energy into hydrogen, stores it safely and converts it back into electricity when required.

Representing a new approach to generating, storing and delivering clean energy, the technology provides uninterrupted renewable power, offering a clean, reliable and emissions-free alternative to diesel generators.

The system is aimed particularly at critical infrastructure where a continuous power supply is essential, such as telecommunications towers, as well as off-grid applications. ATOM H2 is preparing for the first commercial deployments following successful technical validation and on-site pilots.

Ovarro’s TBox was integrated into the unit’s control architecture by ATOM H2 and its engineering partner IDNEO, both based in Barcelona, Spain, to support monitoring, communication and remote management functions.

The RTUs provide real-time remote monitoring and control of field assets, regardless of their geographical location, collecting and transmitting data from field devices and sensors to a central control centre. They control the energy production and storage system while enabling local and remote monitoring of all equipment. The OpenVPN protocol provides reliable and secure remote communications.

Becolve Digital, Ovarro’s distributor in Spain, supported and trained IDNEO and ATOM H2 to facilitate the fast and efficient adoption of the technology.

Carlos Canet, operational marketing director at Becolve Digital, said: “ATOM H2 provides autonomous, continuous and stable power to mission-critical sites where downtime is not acceptable. In this context, the robustness, high availability and ability to integrate with different protocols make TBox an ideal solution for equipment with demanding availability and supervision requirements.”

“TBox has been trusted to monitor and control critical infrastructure for decades, and this project demonstrates how it continues to evolve alongside the latest technologies,” David Pollock, channel manager at Ovarro, said. “As an industry first, it is exciting to see TBox supporting an emerging clean energy application. Reliable telemetry and remote monitoring provide the seamless communications needed to support informed decision-making as these innovative systems move towards commercial deployment.”

ATOM H2 was recognised at Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2026 as one of the most promising start-ups in Catalonia and was named a “challenges of tomorrow” winner through CaixaBank’s EmprendeXXI Awards, run by CaixaBank’s DayOne technology division.
