Oman’s state-run Haya Water has begun construction work on a primary wastewater treatment unit at the Jalaan Bani Bu Ali Wastewater Treatment facility.
The project, which is expected to be completed in 2020, aims to offer treated water for landscaping and construction works in the province of Jalaan Bani Bu Ali, according to the state-run Oman News Agency.
The wastewater unit at the facility – which will treat water according to the specifications of Oman’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs – will be designed to treat liquid wastes from fish markets, slaughterhouses, and automobile laundries, according to the senior area manager for the Regional Governorate, Eng. Saud bin Nasser al-Shidhani.
The upgraded sewage treatment plant (STP) will grow to accommodate approximately 100 cubic metres of wastewater.
In addition, the STP’s capacity will be increased from 600 to 1,200 cubic metres per day.
