NEWEA Annual Conference to proceed in 2021

The New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) has announced that it is currently exploring three options for its Annual Conference scheduled to take place in 2021. The options are:

  1. A fully digital event
  2. A hybrid digital/in-person event
  3. A fully in-person event

The NEWEA has also given assurances that the conference will be held during the week of January 25 in 2021, regardless of the option that the NEWEA staff and meeting management council decides to pursue.

In a statement released, the NEWEA said, “All three of the options above would offer its own set of benefits. A fully in-person event would allow us to host the event as we do every year, including networking receptions, our exhibit halls, and technical sessions. Alternatively, hosting a fully digital event or an event with digital elements would allow attendees and speakers from all over New England to participate without being required to travel to Boston. Instead, attendees and speakers could fit sessions in among the rest of their workday.

Regardless of the format of the conference, attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors will still have access to the same opportunities they’ve come to expect from our Annual Conferences, including a robust program of sessions providing the latest information on clean water, stormwater, and water innovation; networking opportunities; sponsorships; and exhibits.

We will work with speakers who are selected to present at the Annual Conference to determine the best avenue for sharing their session. Should our Annual Conference take place digitally, we will assist speakers with transitioning their session to a digital format.

We will keep our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors updated on our plans for the 2021 Annual Conference as more information becomes available. We look forward to bringing our attendees another informative, engaging Annual Conference in 2021.”
