Swede Fredrik Östbye has been elected as the Grundfos’ new Vice President and Head of Digital Transformation as the Group looks to the future in taking digitalisation to levels never before seen in its business dealings. The 44-year-old Östbye comes from his former position of Vice President, Internet of Things (Iot), at the Telenor Group. Previously, he had been WaterVision AB’s CEO.
Östbye earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers University, Sweden.
“I’m extremely happy that a renowned digital entrepreneur like Fredrik [will be joining] Grundfos. Not only is he a deep expert in his field, but he’s also passionate about making a difference on the global water and energy sustainability agenda. I’m convinced that Fredrik will help accelerate and orchestrate our digitalisation journey for the greater good of Grundfos,” Mads Nipper, Group President and CEO of Grundfos, said.
In his new role, Östbye will be working closely with the Grundfos Group Management as well as the organisation’s digital team to advance digitalisation as leverage for realising the enterprise’s strategic goals. This includes enhancing the Group’s digital capabilities across multiple functions; pinpointing and establishing relevant alliances with other organisations; and urging on and supporting various picked digital projects. He will report directly to Nipper.
“Digitalisation is changing the game for most industries right now, [not only] enabling new opportunities previously not possible, but also disrupting the normal. As [a] digital expert with [a] passion for sustainability, I’m excited to take on the role to orchestrate the digital transformation of Grundfos, with a clear mission to capture these opportunities,” Fredrik Östbye said.
On May 1st, Labour Day, he will join Grundfos, and will be based at the headquarters in Bjerringbro.
