New SPIRAC screen for HKUST

A high-efficiency dual-flow travelling fine-screen made by SPIRAC has been installed at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

Working in conjunction with BML Engineering, who have water and wastewater project experience in China and Hong Kong, SPIRAC supplied and installed its Bandguard 300 ‘out-to-in type’ dual flow travelling band screen for civil opening width of 1.66m and civil channel depth of 11.2m for discharge capacity of 2000L for HKUST seawater pump house.

HKUST bandguard screen from SPIRAC prevents screenings accumulation and reduces the maintenance costs of downstream equipment. The screen is designed to achieve full cleaning by first depositing all debris in the internal launder system, and then feeding it out through the side of the screen.

Shaym Mallen from SPIRAC said, “We are proud to see our design and manufacturing recognised for such important projects in Hong Kong, and to work alongside BML Engineering.”
