MentorAPM adds thermal imaging to MentorLens through Teledyne FLIR collaboration

MentorAPM is expanding its asset intelligence capabilities with thermal imaging through a collaboration with Teledyne FLIR. The integration of the FLIR iXX-Series with MentorLens adds thermal data to the condition assessment process, providing asset-intensive organisations with additional information to support maintenance, reliability and asset management decisions.

The new capabilities will be showcased at the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) annual conference, held from 28 Sep–1 Oct in Raleigh, North Carolina.

“Our team has spent the past several years looking for ways to improve workflows for customers in asset-intensive organisations,” said Tacoma Zach, co-founder and chief executive officer of MentorAPM. “Adding thermal imaging gives our customers another source of asset data to consider when making maintenance and reliability decisions.”

By combining thermal information with MentorLens’ AI-assisted visual condition assessments, teams can capture nameplate, visual condition and thermal data using the same device and add it to the asset record. This is intended to provide more complete and up-to-date asset information for maintenance, reliability and asset management decisions.

The information can be integrated into MentorAPM’s enterprise platform or used alongside an organisation’s existing enterprise asset management (EAM) or computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).

MentorAPM will also showcase Nelson, its asset-aware AI coworker, which is currently in beta ahead of a wider launch in 2027. Nelson is designed to help users connect questions about individual assets with condition, risk and reliability information, allowing them to use natural language to identify assets requiring attention and determine potential next steps.

MentorAPM and Teledyne FLIR will present the integration during an Innovation Lab session at SMRP, “From Camera to Asset Intelligence: AI Workflows for Reliability Teams”, on 29 Sep. Tacoma Zach will lead the session, with John Gould of Teledyne FLIR discussing the iXX-Series and demonstrating how visual and thermal condition data can move from field capture into asset intelligence.
