Festo Singapore, together with its channel partner Sea Lion in Myanmar, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Singapore Myanmar Vocational Training Institute (SMVTI). The MoU is based on the cooperation in the field of Mechanical Engineering (Industrial Automation).
The signing ceremony took place at Yangon, Myanmar at the premises of SMVTI on 19th May 2016. The signatories were Mr. Christian Burdin, Managing Director Festo SE Asia, Dr. Win Zaw Aung, Managing Director Sea Lion Co Ltd, Mr. Volker Schmid, Head of Didactic Festo Asia Pacific and Mr. Chong Chon Hsien, Principal of SMVTI.
SMVTI was established as a joint project between the Singapore and Myanmar government. Its aim is to provide vocational training for Myanmar youths, and to build a pool of skilled workers which will help attract foreign investments into Myanmar. The SMVTI will also help to build Myanmar’s capacity in vocational education by training Myanmar instructors.
“This MoU will provide a framework to work closely together to reach our common goal to enhance vocational training in co-operation with the industry. There will be many value adding activities, such as exchanging knowledge between the three organisations, and holding seminars and workshops on industrial automation. With the support of SeaLion, we are able to offer industrial attachments for the staff and students of SMVTI to SeaLion and their partners,” said Mr Burdin.
“From this MoU, we are confident that through our efforts and commitment, we will be able to achieve more and to be able to continue to develop even stronger relationships and friendships between the three organisations,” he continued.
