Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize 2018 is now open for nominations

Global platform Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) officially opened its call for nominations for the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize 2018 on 22nd March, Wednesday.

The Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize is one of the major features of SIWW, a platform to co-create and share innovative solutions for water, and celebrates exceptional contributions by organisations or individuals who are taking steps toward resolving the world’s water issues by either employing or developing innovative water programmes, policies, or technologies that profit mankind.

The illustrious international award is named after Singapore’s first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, whose guidance and foresight allowed the tiny island nation to achieve a sustainable water supply.

Since its inauguration in 2008, the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize has gone on to become the leading Water Prize in the global water arena by spotlighting innovative water programmes, policies or technologies that have been transformative when applied in reality. Laureates included in the honour roll have created or developed comprehensive water management practices, programmes, policies, as well as revolutionary solutions in used water treatment and membrane technology that have improved the lives of millions. Their accomplishments represent the peak of sustainable water solutions that have positively impacted people and metropolises across the globe.

The Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize 2018 laureate will win SGD$300,000 (US$214,132), a certificate, and a gold medallion at the award ceremony that will be held during SIWW 2018.
