Marking twenty-five years of industry engagement and its twentieth edition, Indo Water Expo & Forum continues to serve as a key platform for Indonesia’s water and wastewater sector. Organised by PT Napindo Media Ashatama, the event brings together government representatives, regulators, water and sewerage utilities, manufacturers, industrial users, consultants and industry practitioners to exchange knowledge, assess sector developments and support long-term collaboration.

Indonesia’s continued investment in urban sanitation infrastructure reflects broader efforts to strengthen environmental sustainability and urban resilience. Led by the Ministry of Public Works, the Jakarta Sewerage Development Project represents a shift towards centralised wastewater management. This includes the development of large capacity treatment facilities, expansion of city-wide sewerage networks and the adoption of modern treatment technologies to meet regulatory requirements. These developments are contributing to sustained demand for integrated wastewater solutions and long-term sector investment.

This progress is supported by the Government of Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening investment frameworks for water and sanitation. Under the 2025–2029 National Medium Term Development Plan, total planned investment amounts to IDR 157.2 trillion for the water supply sector and IDR 74.9 trillion for sanitation. The plan also promotes alternative financing mechanisms, including public and private partnerships, to support large-scale programmes.

Within this context, Indo Water plays a role in supporting national water and sanitation programmes by providing a platform that connects policymakers, project owners and solution providers. As centralised wastewater infrastructure continues to expand, the event facilitates knowledge exchange, strengthens project preparedness and broadens market access, contributing to the longer term development of Indonesia’s water and wastewater sector.

Strengthening Indo Water’s positioning through strategic participation

In line with efforts to strengthen international engagement, Napindo has confirmed Indo Water’s participation at InterAqua 2026, which will be held from 28–30 Jan 2026 at Tokyo Big Sight East Hall in Japan. The participation reflects Indonesia’s growing engagement with regional and global water sector developments and Napindo’s interest in international collaboration.

Participation at InterAqua 2026 supports Indo Water’s role as a point of connection between Indonesia’s water sector and international markets. As national priorities increasingly focus on water management, urban sanitation, climate resilience and sustainable infrastructure, engagement with international stakeholders supports knowledge exchange, technology assessment and alignment with global standards.

Held under the theme of water business supporting sustainable corporate activities, InterAqua provides an opportunity to observe regulatory approaches, operational practices and solutions applied in mature and highly regulated markets such as Japan. Indo Water views the event as a reference point for understanding how Sustainable Development Goals related commitments are translated into operational and commercial practices within the water sector.

In 2025, Indo Water recorded a gross exhibition area of 15,888 square metres and participation from 620 exhibitors representing twenty six countries, including twelve national pavilions. Building on this outcome, Napindo anticipates the participation of seven hundred exhibitors from thirty countries and an estimated seventeen thousand visitors at Indo Water 2026, scheduled to take place from 11–13 Aug 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The exhibition and accompanying conference programme are intended to support dialogue across the sector, providing opportunities for knowledge sharing and professional exchange as Indonesia’s water and wastewater industry continues to evolve.
