Global Innovation Lab for climate finance launches programme in the Philippines

The Global Innovation Lab for climate finance (The Lab) has launched a regional programme in the Philippines to propel the country’s climate resilience and promote sustainable economic growth. The Lab is seeking proposals for solutions focusing on nature-based solutions that can mobilise private climate finance investment in the Philippines and scale across the APAC region. The deadline for submissions is 27 Dec 2023. Apply here.

The Lab will also host a webinar on 16 Nov 2023, about the application process, selection criteria and detail the Lab’s acceleration programme. Applicants are encouraged to register for this session.

The selected idea will benefit from technical and analytical assistance provided by Lab analysts and partner organisations, including financial modelling, market analysis, and assessment of potential social and environmental impacts. Additionally, the Lab extends support for risk evaluation, implementation planning, and creating promotional materials to attract potential investors.

The Lab, an initiative of over 70 public and private investors and institutions, is said to drive private investment at scale and support sustainable development goals (SDGs) in emerging markets. Created in 2014, the Lab has launched 68 instruments that have collectively mobilised over US$3.5bn.

“We are excited about expanding the Lab regional programmes to the Philippines, a country with climate challenges but also a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Filipino innovators and investors can play a role in developing and implementing climate finance solutions,” said climate policy initiative’s associate director Ben Broché.
