EKKI Water Technologies and HOMA Pumpenfabrik GmbH have announced the launch of the LINUS clog-defence sewage pump range and the next phase of development of their joint venture, EKKI HOMA, which focuses on sewage pumping solutions for India and selected emerging markets.

The LINUS range has been developed to address clogging in sewage pumping systems. HOMA has invested more than USD 30 million in global expansion initiatives, with part of the funding allocated to strengthening the Indian joint venture.

Kanishka Arumugam, co-chief executive officer of the EKKI group, said EKKI HOMA has been established as an independent company dedicated to sewage pumping applications in India. He stated: “EKKI HOMA goes beyond a conventional partnership. It is the formation of a new, independent company focused exclusively on solving India’s sewage pumping challenges through purpose-built products and systems.”

Hans Hoffmann, chief executive officer of HOMA Pumpenfabrik GmbH, said the joint venture is intended to design and manufacture a dedicated sewage pump portfolio for the Indian market rather than introducing existing products. He said: “With EKKI HOMA, we have established a new, independent Indo-German company with a clear mandate: to develop, manufacture, and scale a dedicated sewage pumping product portfolio purpose-built for Indian operating conditions.”

Mr N K Ranganath, chief advisor of EKKI HOMA, said the company aims to provide European-standard performance adapted to local requirements. He commented: “EKKI HOMA stands for reliability, engineering integrity and for European quality performance made accessible for India.”

India faces significant challenges in sewage management, with a large proportion of wastewater discharged without treatment. The companies stated that reliable pumping systems are required for residential, commercial, industrial and municipal applications, particularly as decentralised sewage systems expand.

The LINUS range is designed to handle solids and fibrous waste in residential complexes, commercial buildings, industrial facilities and municipal installations. According to the companies, the pumps are constructed to operate in corrosive and abrasive conditions, with features intended to reduce blockages, maintenance requirements and operational disruptions.
