ASIAWATER 2018: The region’s largest and leading water show opens its doors for its 10th edition

The 10th edition of the region’s largest water and wastewater event in developing Asia threw opened on a high note on the 10th of April, 2018, at KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Y.B. Senator Dato’ Sri SK Devamany, SSAP., DIMP., SMP., PPT – Acting Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTha) led the Opening Ceremony on 11th April 2018 at KLCC’s Plenary Hall.

“ASIAWATER 2018 fits very well indeed with the Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs,” General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Bin Mohamed (Rtd), Co-Chairman of UBM Malaysia, pointed out during his welcome address. “Also known as “Transforming our World”, the 2030 agenda for sustainable development is set by the United Nations. In goal number six of the 2030 agenda, signatories to the summit are to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation. UBM Malaysia believes that ASIAWATER 2018 can provide the impetus for the required partnership for growth and a sustainable water future.”

Partnership for Growth and a Sustainable Water Future is the central theme for the 10th edition. The goal is to promote public, private, and community partnership as well as showcase the latest technologies and effective solutions in water management and water security.

ASIAWATER 2018 is 30 per cent bigger than the previous edition – featuring a wider scope of over 1,000 companies – the best in water supply and sanitation, sewerage, industrial wastewater practices, trends, and technologies. In total, there are 11 international and regional pavilions from Austria, Bavaria, China, the European Union (EU), Illinois State from the United States (US), South Korea, The Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the Water Environment Federation (WEF).

The water show continues to be the one-stop regional hub for water experts, industry professionals and major investors from all over the world, expecting more than 19,000 visitors. The three-day event is accompanied with 50 free-to-attend conferences and seminars revolving around the event’s central theme. ASIAWATER 2018 Conferences covers three major topics: Efficient & Sustainable Water Resources, Water Policy & Governance, and Water Resources.
