Nikkaku giving the lecture
At the invitation of the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education, Akihiro Nikkaku, President of Toray Industries, Inc., visited Kuala Lumpur to give a public lecture on "Research & Development and Global Business Strategy of Toray Group".
This 18th Leadership Lecture Series, organized by the University Technology Malaysia (UTM) at its Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) Campus on 6 December 2016 attracted a full capacity crowd of some 600 guests and students, including the Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Idris bin Jusoh.
This Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Faculty Programme gives students the opportunities to understand and have a better perspective on the guest speaker’s particular field. In the words of the Minister, the programme enables the CEOs of large global companies to share their insights and experiences with students and help enhance the students’ educational experience as they get a chance to understand the day-to-day operation of a major organization like Toray.
The CEO Faculty Programme is based on the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 which centres on producing graduates who evince attributes that are entrepreneurial, holistic and balanced by way of a commensurate involvement in the industry.
The public lecture by Nikkaku attracted much enthusiasm and interests as the participants asked various questions after his one-hour-long lecture. Going forward, Toray Group shall work closely with the Malaysian institutions of higher learning to further transform Malaysia into an advanced nation.
