Recently, Sempcorb celebrated topping out the Nanjing International Water Hub, its latest technology and business centre in Nanjing, China. Vice Secretary of the Communist Party of China Nanjing Jinye Committee and Mayor of the Nanjing Jianye District Government, Min Yifeng, as well as Singapore’s Deputy Consul-General in Shanghai, Philip Ong, joined the ceremony marking the completion of the superstructure concrete works for the water hub. With this topping out, the development remains on track for completion in 2018.

When the project has been completed, the Nanjing International Water Hub will be able to offer flexible laboratory space designed for water-based clinical testing. In addition, selected tenants will be given access to its water facilities across China to use as test beds for their technologies, and supports the commercialisation of research and development (R&D) projects from the pilot-testing stage through to market readiness. The water hub will offer a 400-seat auditorium, meeting rooms, and exhibition space to showcase products or launch the newest technology solutions.

As a global water player with a history of being technology and innovation driven, Sembcorp hopes to support the long-term growth of the water sector. As a business centre, the Nanjing International Water Hub has been envisioned as a highly collaborative workspace for academics, research scientists, and technologists, to conduct knowledge-driven exchange as well as form partnerships.

To date, the Nanjing International Water Hub has secured eight cooperation agreements, including agreements with leading research centres and government agencies within the global water arena.

“The Nanjing International Water Hub aims to provide a conducive home for the water technology cluster to grow here in Nanjing. With its well-equipped laboratory facilities, networking platforms, and the unique opportunity for tenants to [try out] new solutions under actual industrial conditions, this new water hub aims to accelerate the introduction of new advanced water solutions in the Chinese market,” Tan Cheng Guan, Executive Vice President and Head of Group Business Development and Commercial at Sembcorp, said. “This would then provide an ideal springboard for these new solutions to be adopted in other rapidly developing markets internationally.”

“The Nanjing International Water Hub will be the newest and largest technology and business centre to be completed at the Sino-Singapore Nanjing Eco High-tech Island in the coming year,” CEO of Sembcorp Development, Kelvin Teo, said. “The water hub’s vision fits the island’s ecological theme and high-tech services. Through this project, Sembcorp is please4d to help bring value-added industry to Nanjing and contribute to the economic development of this vibrant city.”
