Specialty chemicals company, LANXESS, recently launched its new multipurpose broad spectrum synthetic phenolic farm disinfectant, Virkon™ LSP, at VIV Asia 2019 in Thailand, March 2019.

With multiple disinfection applications, Virkon™ LSP can be used for the disinfection of surfaces in farm buildings, livestock housing, on foot paths, roads and concrete areas.  It can also be used for the routine disinfection of movable equipment, tools, feed troughs and buckets.

The product’s robust broad-spectrum activity remains effective for seven days, at in-use dilutions, making Virkon™ LSP ideal for use in disinfectant boot and vehicle wheel dips.

Virkon™ LSP offers Southeast Asia famers an innovative, modern disinfectant formulation specifically engineered to be highly effective against viruses, bacteria and fungi, when used at varying temperatures, and in the presence of organic challenge.

Reflecting on the product’s excellent powerful concentrated performance and proven on-farm biocidal activity, Stephan Cho, Head of Market Segment Disinfection in the Material Protection Products business unit (MPP), at LANXESS said “this new, modern formulated biocide complements the other Virkon™ disinfectants within our product portfolio within the Southeast Asian region”.

Cho continues “Virkon™ LSP is designed to handle all ‘real farm’ biosecurity disinfection tasks. The innovative liquid synthetic phenolic formulation has been independently proven to inactivate a wide range of disease-causing pathogens that affect poultry and swine production including; Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) and African Swine Fever (ASF), Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD), Porcine Reproductive Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) and Salmonella, some of  the biggest disease challenges to face global livestock producers at this time.”

In addition to its Virkon™ portfolio of modern formulated disinfectants, LANXESS is offering poultry and swine producers timely advice on the clinical symptoms of AI & ASF and guidance on implementing enhanced biosecurity protocols across the range of possible infection vectors, to help prevent and control the spread of these most feared epidemic diseases.
